By
sharing information, experiences and resources, community residents,
businesses, schools and colleges can better support each other’s
sustainable development, energy decent and an increased understanding
of the natural world.
The Low Carbon Zone project has five key elements that aim to positively affect the community as a whole:
| Renewable Energies | Solar buying club for residents; school solar panels; potential to invest in community owned energy |
| Energy Efficiency | 1600 houses visited in Furzedown and Graveney by government’s RE:NEW project; Funding available for insulation; Carbon Conversation sessions running locally |
| Sustainable Schools Initiative | Facilitating Education for Sustainable Development within local schools; focusing on their communication, campus, community and curriculum |
| Skilling-Up for a greener future | Information and training for potential jobs in sustainability; links to South Thames College and Greener Jobs Alliance; sustainability and art |
| Information Network | Regular updates on our Project Dirt site; links to other sustainability projects, events, training and funding opportunities; discussions online and at regular FLCZ meetings |
