What is The Furzedown Focus?

In the earliest years of the Furzedown Community Network (FCN) the first newsletter was a single sheet of photocopied paper that was put through members’ doors. Then, in Spring 2002 the first eight-page A5-size issue of the Furzedown Focus newsletter was printed and distributed to almost 5000 houses in Furzedown.

Four years on, the newsletter has continued to appear twice a year; it has grown from its original eight pages to 20 or 24 pages an issue. Originally it was paid for by the fundraising efforts of FCN and money raised from charities, now it carries advertising and is almost completely self-financing. The Summer issue of the newsletter acts as the programme for the Furzedown Summer Festival and the Winter edition carries local news and views. If you would like to get involved in the newsletter – helping to deliver it, writing articles for it, or maybe even helping to edit it – please contact focuseditor@ furzedown.net.

You can download the latest edition of the Focus as a 1.2 Mb .pdf file here.
